A Heart of Kindness
Today, we’re honoring Anna Marie Carrick Snow, a woman whose quiet acts of love, faith, and generosity touched countless lives in Hernando County. So, let’s dive into the story of this beloved Brooksvillian.
Anna Marie Carrick Snow, born on December 20, 1921, in Sparta, Tennessee, to Denny Lee Carrick and Maude Ethel Carrick, came to Brooksville through her marriage to Arthur LeRoy Snow Sr., fondly known as Roy, on July 14, 1943. Roy was part of the Snow family, tied to the historic Chinsegut Hill Manor House. When Marie joined this Hernando County family, she brought with her a heart as big as the Florida sky. In 1955, she and Roy founded Snow’s Insurance Agency, now Snow & Bell Insurance Agency, a business that became a cornerstone of the community, helping folks protect what mattered most. Marie’s role in the agency wasn’t just about paperwork—she brought warmth and trust to every interaction, making clients feel like family.
A devoted member of the Brooksville Church of Christ at 604 W. Fort Dade Avenue, Marie lived her faith through quiet, meaningful deeds. Whether it was lending a hand to a neighbor or sharing a kind word, her life was a living example of love and generosity, as her obituary beautifully noted. She raised three children—Arthur LeRoy “Roy” Snow Jr., Robert Bruce Snow, and Sharon Snow Bell—with the same care, instilling values that carried into the next generations. Her legacy lives on through her four grandchildren—Brook Bell Mazourek, Robert Bruce “Bert” Snow II, Brittany Ann Bell, and Blake Ederington Bell—and two great-grandchildren, Snow Anna Mazourek and Dawson Randolph Mazourek, who carry her name and spirit.
Marie’s impact went beyond her family. Her smile and heart left a lasting impression, as family friend Jacquelyn Lett shared in a touching tribute, recalling how Marie’s warmth stayed with her every day. Living in Brooksville for decades, Marie was a thread in the town’s tapestry, supporting the community through her church and business. She passed away on September 28, 2016, at the age of 94, at her home in Brooksville. Her funeral, held at the Brooksville Church of Christ on October 3, 2016, and burial at Lake Lindsey Cemetery, drew family and friends from across the community, a testament to the love she inspired.
Standing here, you can almost picture Marie welcoming folks into her insurance office or praying quietly at church, her kindness lighting up the room. She was a woman who built bridges in Brooksville, connecting people through faith and care. Let’s tip our hats to Anna Marie Carrick Snow, whose gentle strength made this town a better place.
